Know that build guidelines are meant to be generic. A catch-all build that specializes in absolutely nothing but can work at any part of the game. Your build -absolutely- should deviate from this based on your own needs and gear.

Most generic builds will have attack, parry, and immunity equal. This is a good GENERAL rule, but your SPECIFIC situation and play should change that.

Seyans as a Class

Seyan'du are a prestige hybrid class between mages and warriors and as such unlock the pre-arch abilities of both classes. They are much more gear reliant and as such, typically not recommended for players who are new and struggling with gear in the early game. The communities go to recommendation will always be to start on a mage, arch that, maybe make a couple orb alts, and when more comfortable with the game, mechanics, and gear, Seyan your characters.

As a hybrid, Seyans play a lot like warriors. They are typically melee builds, where instead of using endurance and warcry for their life-shield, they use the mana and magic-shield granted to them from their Mage half. If you choose to raise warcry on a Seyan, not that it does not and will not grant life-shield.

*Note that you -can- build a spell-casting Seyan, but doing so is typically an advanced build and will not be covered in this guide aimed at helping newer players find their footing with the class and the game.

Unlocking the Class

Unlocking Seyan'du as a class is very similar to Arching a character. After you finish the five Labyrinth quests, when you go to challenge the Gatekeeper you say "Seyan'du" instead of Arch-Warrior or Arch-Mage and you will be teleported into a fight with the Seyan'du gatekeeper. This version of the gatekeeper is a bit harder than the others, but allows you to bring in three potions with you to complete the fight. After winning, you will respawn as level 2 or 3, depending on clan bonuses, as a newly unlocked Seyan. Your gear will be unequipped and put into your inventory, and you will start over fresh as a new Seyan.

Things to do before you unlock the class

When you Seyan, almost everything on that character resets, so if you are trying to get the most out of a single character, there are some things you should do before you go fight the gatekeeper.

  • Get your orbs: Orbs reset when you seyan, so make sure you get your level 10/20/30 orbs in Aston
  • Do your welds: Welds (and all other RDs) reset, so at the very least, SU and GU the creepers belt and weld off the the immunity to another item so you can get some nice IMM items to start
  • Go Mining: While less important, GU rooms also reset, so you might want to find the level 10/20/30 GU rooms and get yourself a healthy amount of GU to start a character.

The Differences

Seyans are a more "gear" based character. Where Warriors and Mages need 50% of a skill as gear to max, Seyans need 72.5%. This means if all three classes had 100 base immunity, Mages and Warriors need +50 from gear to max, Seyans can get +72 from gear. To balance this to prevent Seyans from being overwhelmingly more powerful, Seyans take a little more exp to raise stats and thus have slightly lower base stats than their mage or warrior counterparts. This balancing means that a -geared- Seyan is slightly more powerful than a Mage or Warrior but one without gear is significantly weaker.

Another form of balancing Seyans go through is modifications to their max base stats. A Softcore Mage/Warrior has a max base of 115 for a stat, while Hardcore has a max base of 122. A softcore Seyan has a max base of 100, and a Hardcore a max base of 107. This once again means that an ungeared or undergeared Seyan is going to be weaker than a Mage/Warrior, but a geared Seyan will typically be stronger.

Generic Builds for Generic Purposes

The below Seyan builds offer input on how to build a pretty balanced Seyan at various stages of progression at low levels. Know that the amount "based on level" scales over time, you don't keep things at that forever, which is why multiple levels of build have been offered below. These beginning builds should give you a generic idea of how to raise your Seyan, and as you reach certain specializations, you can ask the community for ideas for that specific thing based on what you need. There are more "optimal" builds, and even more optimal "balance" builds, these are by no means meant to be perfect spawners and you should not use them as such. These are for the people who really don't know how to build an alt. This build assumes you are low on gear and has been made with -zero- gear in mind, change it to fit what you get.

Generic Seyan Advice

Get 10 weapon base roughly every 7 levels.

-This means 10 sword at level 7.

-This means 20 sword at level 14.

-This means 30 sword at level 21.

-This means 40 sword at level 28.

You'll note a large number of skills aren't on the chart below, for all things not listed, just keep them at 1 unless you have a specific interest in making a build around that stat, in which case, this guide isn't for you in the first place.

(Skills to be left at 1: Warcry, Heal, Freeze, Lightning, Fire, Pulse, Bartering, Perception, Stealth)

*Armor Skill is generally around level, unless you have a set of gear, then you will often keep armor skill to be that level until you reach your next set

**Surround Hit becomes more valuable when you do content that requires it. Examples being Ice Pents.

***Speed skill is best raised to hit various speed breaks and only then leveling it with level guides is just a lazy but easy way to do it.

+20 Seyan Set

Seyan sets for +20 gear come down to player preference and what the set is for. You should alter your set to be based on the content you want to do. If you've made it to the point you're ready to start prepping your +20 set as a Seyan congrats! Gear at this point becomes really specialized, ask around for some input specific to you and your character.
