Story

When you speak to the Captain, he informs you that a traitor has been discovered leaking sensitive information to bandits. The man was caught trying to smuggle classified documents stolen from the archives, but even under torture, he has refused to reveal how the leaks are happening.

The Clerk has since reported that additional notes have gone missing, this time relating to a transport scheduled for tomorrow night between Brannington and Arkhata. The Captain warns that your entrance pass won’t grant access to all areas of the fortress and asks you to speak with the Clerk to investigate further.

The Clerk confirms the situation: three notes are missing, and he fears they may be delivered to the bandits tonight. He asks you to recover the documents and unmask the traitors.

Quest Objectives

  • Accept the quest from the Clerk by saying "Aye",
  • Recover the three stolen notes and return them to the Clerk within three hours (15 real life minutes).

Quick Walkthrough

  • Use the light to enter the hidden area.
  • Use the shield, then the left painting, then the stairs.
  • Loot the first note. Use the armor stand to return.
  • Repeat shield and left painting, then use the candle.
  • Loot the second note, then use the sacks.
  • Loot the third note, then use the light to exit.
  • Return the notes to the Clerk to complete the quest.

Detailed Walkthrough

After accepting the quest from the Clerk, you will receive a clock, and a countdown timer will appear on screen above your inventory.

Head into the south-east room, then proceed to the next. You may witness a Prisoner being executed by a Guard. As he dies, he’ll say, “I know the secret, it's right here!”—he’s referring to the light on the center of the opposite wall. Click it to be transported into a hidden area.

This area functions as a teleportation maze. Interacting with certain objects will move you between rooms. Your objective is to navigate through this maze and retrieve three missing notes.

First Note:

  • From the entrance, go into the next room with six Guards and use the shield.
  • In the new room with three Guards, interact with the left painting.
  • In the library-like room with six Guards, use the stairs.
  • In the next room, loot the first note from one of the four Guards.
  • Use the armor stand to return to the starting area.

Second and Third Notes:

  • Once again, use the shield and left painting to reach the library area.
  • This time, interact with the candle to enter a room with four Guards. Loot the second note.
  • Use the sacks to move to another room with three Guards. Loot the third note.
  • Finally, use the light to return to the main fortress.

You’ll reappear at the main fortress entrance (from the mountain side). Head south-west, through the door, then south-east, and into one of the side rooms. Make your way back to the Clerk and hand over the notes to complete the quest.

Notes

  • If you fail to return the notes before the timer expires, the quest will fail permanently. It will remain in your quest log and cannot be completed.
  • The Fortress Key from the Entrance Passes quest (given by Rammy) is needed to access the area. If you no longer have it and already completed that quest, there’s no way to get another. The only alternative is having another player with the key let you in.
  • Extra keys found in the maze are not needed to complete the quest.
  • If the Captain won’t talk to you, try visiting the Judge first. He may not say anything, but his turning toward you is an indication that a trigger has fired to allow progress.
