Know that build guidelines are meant to be generic. A catch-all build that specializes in absolutely nothing but can work at any part of the game. Your build -absolutely- should deviate from this based on your own needs and gear.

Most generic builds will have lightning, magic shield, and immunity equal. This is a good GENERAL rule, but your SPECIFIC situation and play should change that.

Generic Builds for Generic Purposes

The below mage builds offer input on how to build a pretty balanced mage at various stages of progression at low levels. Know that the amount "based on level" scales over time, you don't keep things at that forever, which is why multiple levels of build have been offered below. These beginning builds should give you a generic idea of how to raise your mage, and as you reach certain specializations, you can ask the community for ideas for that specific thing based on what you need. There are more "optimal" builds, and even more optimal "balance" builds, these are by no means meant to be perfect spawners and you should not use them as such. These are for the people who really don't know how to build an alt.

*Freeze becomes more valuable when you do content that requires it. Examples being Ice Pents.

**At some point raising heal and the other offensive spell (either fire or lightning, whichever you didnt pick) costs almost ZERO experience, the mods from these spells will give you armor value and there is some merit in raising them.

+20 Mage Set

Mage sets for +20 gear come down to player preference and what the set is for. Below is a loose pve example for planning purposes only. This assumes your going to Past The Max (PTM) LMI, Intuition and Pulse.

This would lead you with the following

To effectively pulse the 118 hell demons, you need about 165 base pulse and four +20 pulse items. Three +20 freeze items would also assist and you can drop the mana for an additional two +20 bless items and do two weapons items. Use a stat calc to ensure you don't over bless your self by adding the bless items depending on what level you plan to play to.
