Mines
The standard mines goes from level 10 to 80. There are mines up to 120 in Grimroot.
The mines are used to gather Silver Units (SU) and Gold Units (GU) and can be accessed from either Aston, Brannington or Grimroot.
Each level of the mines gives more SU and GU. SU is mined in the light gray areas and GU is mined at the back in the dark grey areas. You can obtain a Pick of Yedney from the level 10 mines in the bottom right that will let you mine both SU and GU or pick which one you want.
The Professions Athlete and Miner effect your mining ability. Athlete effects how fast you mine, Miner increase the amount of units you find and both effect how much endurance you spend. Note Minder does not increase the frequency that you find units.
Broklin in Brannington will trade 5,000 Silver Units for 1,000 Gold Units or will trade 1,000 Gold Units for 4,000 Silver Units.
Item | Effect | Requirements | Comment |
---|---|---|---|
Silver Units (SU) | Increases your current piece of gears stats by +1 | The Next Power level x100 | For Example a +1 piece requires 200 SU to become +2 |
Gold Units (GU) | Increases a currently Silvered piece of gears stats by +1 | Item must currently be Silvered & The Next Power level x100 | For Example requires a +2 Silvered item & 300 GU to become +3 |
Silver Bar | Reduces the base skill requirement of an Armour/Weapon slot | 10000 SU converted into a Silver bar in Grimroot zone | For Example a Weapon skill (WS) 90 Sword, can become WS 80 |
Gold Bar | Increases the base skill requirement of an Armour/Weapon Slot | 10000 GU converted into a Gold bar in Grimroot zone | For Example a WS80 Sword, can become a WS90 |
Gold Unit and Shop Doors
Each level of the mines has a moving gold unit door and a moving shop door. The Gold Unit door leads to an area with zombies and a locked chest with a zombie holding the key to the chest. The chest contains a large amount of gold units dependant on the level of the mines. This chest has a one year cooldown.
The shop door leads to a room with a merchant, Lori, and a banker, Doin. When the area is started Lori will have six random gear pieces. Every 12 hours Lori generates an extra gear item. Each level of the mines has a unique Lori with his own set of items.
There are a set number of possible locations for each door in each level of the mines. Every 30 seconds each location will run a check to see whether the active door will move to that location. To move there must be no unmined tiles in 8x8 area around the possible door location and the current door location. If both locations are sufficiently hidden then there is a 1/20 chance the door will move to that location.
Due to this logic a door can be kept from moving by putting a lit torch outside of a door. Also a door can be prevented from moving to a possible door location by putting a lit torch at the possible location. This helps to ensure a door doesn't move to an area you've already checked as you search through the mines while the torch remains lit. A fresh torch lasts for one hour.
Pick of Yedney
This item will give a bonus to mining yields when it is in your inventory and not set to Off.
The higher level the pick has the bigger the bonus.
Click it to cycle between Off, All, Silver and Gold.
The All state will give a bonus to both Silver and Gold.
Silver and Gold states will only give a bonus when you find their respective ore.
How do I get the Pick?
Upon finding Yedney in level 10 mines at (250,250) he will ask you to bring a special torch to Ruby.
Bringing this torch to Ruby will yield a level 0 Pick of Yedney with very little charge.
How do I recharge the Pick?
The Pick has a hidden charge counter which gets depleted when finding silver and/or gold units in the mines.
When this charge reaches 0 the pick will no longer work until you recharge it.
To recharge you need to use at least 1000 gold units on the Pick.
Looking at the Pick will show you an approximate charge (heavy/light/empty).
To be able to recharge the Pick the charge must be light (below 2000).
Bringing the Pick back to Yedney in mines and giving it to him will make him say the exact charge left.
How do I level up the Pick?
Recharging the pick causes it to level up. It takes quite some mining to deplete the pick to a point where you can recharge it.
